Chris is a lovely gentleman who has been cared for by EDS for a number of years. Always local to the Peak District, Chris qualified as a pharmacist in 1957 and ended up owning his own pharmacy. Chris really enjoyed working as a pharmacist and speaks of these days very fondly.
As the years went on and Chris needed a little bit more help, he chose EDS to provide a couple of daily visits to help with his personal care, medication and other aspects of his daily routine.
Throughout the years, Chris has unfortunately had a number of hospital and respite stays due to a range of ailments, such as chest infections and nasty nosebleeds, but Chris chose to stay with EDS and continued being cared for in his own home, by his preferences and routines.
One unfortunate day in April 2024, Chris fell very poorly and had to go into hospital. This turned into a nearly two-month long stay in a care home for rehabilitation.
The senior management team called Chris to see how he was doing, and Chris expressed his desire to come home as he was not getting the rehabilitation he needed and missed his home. After some back and forth with the care home he was staying in, the only way Chris would be safely discharged from it would be to have a Live-In Carer.
After hearing this, EDS management worked very quickly to put together a solid plan for EDS to begin offering Live-In Care, in order for Chris, a valued service user, to be able to return back home as per his wishes. This was presented to Chris and that staff at the care home, and Chris was able to return back home, with the help of his two Live-In Carers.
Over a year on, Chris is still happily receiving Live-In Care from EDS. Chris is extremely pleased with his two Live-In Carers, remarking how good they have been in looking after him. He has developed a very good relationship with his carers and can’t imagine not having Live-In Care from EDS.
Chris says that everyone that visits tell him how well he looks, and he is happy that Live-In Care is enabling him to remain in his own home for as long as possible, which is his biggest wish for his care. Chris’ friends share the same sentiment, often remarking how brilliant the carers have been with Chris. Therefore, despite some shortfalls from some care homes and healthcare professionals, Chris can always rely on EDS to meet his needs, his way.
